hello human!

Writings blogs was a good experience, even though I was a little lazy to start writing them. I think this exercise gave me a new way to express myself and maybe this worked to my classmates too, because we had to write about things that we don’t usually tell everybody. Also, I believe I increase my writings skills, because we have to write about certain topics that we are not familiar in English language. I mean, sometimes difficult words came up and it was hard to express what I thought in English, or when I read my classmate’s blogs I discover new words, or I could inspire on what they wrote. Maybe in the future, I would like to write more about social-political topics, because it helps you to increase your vocabulary and to develop the way you express yourself in “formal topics” like the subject of Blog 9. I believe that Chilean education has different and numerous challenges for the near future. In my opinion, one of the biggest challenges is to provide a free and quality education for everyone. An education that doesn’t discriminates people by their social or economic status.  The government must recognize education as a right and needs to stop seeing as a business. By the other hand, there’s another challenge that is related to this year’s social-politics movement around the world. The feminist movement has been a really strong movement, where women declaim for their rights. This moved to the education area and mixed the fight of women and students into a non-sexist education, where children can learn without getting the focus on gender roles. This semester I had a lot of subjects that I really like and enjoy, but I think that “Imagen y Sociedad” is the one that I like the most. “Imagen y Sociedad” is a subject that studies the role of images as a message transmitter and how society gives them different meanings depending on certain time and cultures beliefs. One of the reasons I like this subject is because in our times and as a generation, we are part of a visual culture where everything we say or think it has to have an image to represent it. Actually, more than a 70% of the information that we receive in one day is delivered through our vision.   So, I’m into this topic, because of the power and impact that images have in our life.
