One website that I really like is CIPER Chile, that is well-known famous by his journalistic investigations, but it also has news and opinion articles. CIPER Chile, abbreviation for Centro de Investigación Periodistica, is a non-profit foundation created in 2009 with the purpose of promote investigative journalism. It only has an online platform that contains different sections like: current affairs, investigations, opinion and more. I don’t really visit this website with frequency, but I had read a lot of their investigative work and they are truly great. I admire the journalist that work for this page and the work every employee does to keep this website running with the capability of being loyal to their values and mission. The last one I have read is one about the case of Margarita Ancacoy. It talks about how the cleaning jobs that women, and sometimes men, do, it’s really dangerous, badly paid and also, about how the employees are vulnerable as much in their work...

favorite movie scene

As much people I have seen a lot of movies and I can never pick a favorite one, but I think that one movie that I really like is 10 things I hate about you directed by Gil Junger. Yeah, I know it’s a romantic comedy but It’s one of those films that I could watch a hundred times without getting bored. The movie is about the love story between Kat (Julia Stiles) and Patrick (Heath Ledger), who are set up by Cameron (Joseph Gordon Levitt), the new high school kid who’s in love with Kat’s sister, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), a sophomore girl that according to his father rules, can date only if Kat’s dating. My favorite part of the movie is when Patrick sings to Kat “Can’t take my eyes of you”, at the school stadium in front of Kat’s team mates. He makes a whole performance with the school’s band, and of course, without school’s permission, so then two police men comes to catch him but he funly runaway. It’s really sappy, but I love it. Here’s the scene I choose: https://www...

Gender violence is present in fiction characters

I don’t use to watch lots of cartoons right now, I mean sometimes I watch Rick and Morty or The Simpsons, but I can see that we had all agreed that it is very sexist, racist, homophobic and more. However, when I was little I loved to watch cartoons such as Hey Arnold, Dora, the Explorer, The Rugrats, The Powerpuff Girls and more, and by remembering and writing this, I can tell that mostly of their female characters were strong and empowered women that didn’t follow the stereotype imposed by our society. A good example is The Powerpuff Girls, because it combines the entertainment of children with their education in feminism. (WHICH IS A LOT) Despite this, cartoons that are address to older audiences, -that we could think that are more conscious about certain topics- such as Family Guy, The Simpsons, The Cleveland Show and South Park have explicit reference to gender violence, racism and different types of discrimination. Ps: The GIF is not a critique (to the show), is a...

He’s Jaime and he’s 76 years old. Jaime is my grandfather and he’s been fighting with life. My grandfather suffers from senile dementia but there he is, playing dominos with me and my brother. I remember it was summer and we were visiting my grandparents with my family, and we decided to play some games to change his routine a little bit. My grandfather liked all kind of board games, but with his illness he decided to leave the games. So, when someone asked him to play he said no, that he doesn’t remember how to play anymore. But that day, we convinced with my brother and he was so happy, he even pushed us to play faster! So, I decided to take him that photo, because he seems like he  was back in the game,  he was really enjoying it. By the way, he DOES remember how to play, he won all the games we played!
